The ISDM CDSSI Fellowship: Digital Open Solutions (DOS) for Social Impact addresses social sector needs by developing open-source solutions. Over 12 months, fellows tackle specific social challenges by creating solutions accessible to the public and key stakeholders in the development sector.
These DOSs will be widely accessible to the general public, and most crucially to individuals, organisations, and other stakeholders within the larger development sector. The larger outcomes of the project are to make data science and data-driven decision-making become part of mainstream social sector conversations and strategy; to increase data science talent in the sector; and as a result the SPO ecosystem sees greater efficiencies in programming due to data science-driven solutions.
This fellowship provides data science practitioners a platform to deliver insights, optimise interventions, and improve decision-making, encouraging data-driven approaches in SPOs. Applications focus on predefined problems in fields like healthcare, education, climate change, and agriculture. Teams are selected for their expertise and the potential scale of their projects.
The first cohort began in March 2024, with DOS releases expected soon. Stay tuned for the next cohort announcement!
