Year 2024

The Digital Open Solutions (DOS) for Social Impact Fellowship developed open-source solutions for social sector challenges. Over 12 months, Fellows created tools that are freely accessible to the public, organisations, and key stakeholders. This Fellowship aimed to make data science a core part of social sector strategy, increase data science talent in the sector, and help SPOs improve efficiency through data-driven solutions.

E-QLT: A Social Security Simulation Platform

E-QLT is a social security simulation platform. Through it, various stakeholders, such as the government, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), can see how vulnerable the communities they work with are, test interventions, simulate shocks, and plan for resilience. They can use existing datasets like census, socio-economic survey, national health survey, scheme databases, etc., or add their own datasets. The platform can also help the stakeholders understand the combined impact of different interventions and consider combining different interventions.

This initiative aims to empower farmers, villagers, and livestock keepers with instant, reliable, and environmentally-friendly solutions for accessing information on animal disease treatment.

Project Nclude

I-Stem, founded by blind innovators with first-hand lived experience, has developed a generative AI-powered technology. Grounded on specific content for the community, the voice-based interface is made available through phone calls (IVR) or WhatsApp voice messages. Currently, the system offers a career discovery bot, a repository of textbooks, and information on benefits and schemes for people with disabilities in India. With the advent of large language models (LLMs), this information can be disseminated at scale through a robust, hands-free, eyes-free conversational experience across multiple devices.

Project TRANSParent

This project is grounded in addressing the historical exclusion and societal prejudices faced by India's transgender, gender-diverse, and larger Gender and Sexual Minority (GSM) communities, commonly referred to as the LGBTQIA+ community. There is a substantial vacuum in terms of demographic data, multidimensional poverty, and a significant lack of participation in social, cultural, and economic activities within the aforementioned communities. Therefore, the aim of this project was to create an open, accessible, transparent, and AI-enabled data repository or dataset, where three different kinds of information gets stored: A. transgender-GSM demographic data, B. information related to livelihood opportunities and enabling services, and C. information related to Government schemes, policies, and services.
